Immersed in God’s Love is the theme for the Delight in the Word challenge this month (February 2019.)
We will be immersing ourselves in the book of 1 John, which talks a whole lot about love. The challenge is going to look a little bit different this month and here is why…

Last month I completed a reading plan for the book of Philippians in which we were instructed to read the entire book (it is just short – just 4 chapters) every day for 7 days in a row. I loved it and found myself getting so much more out of it than just reading something once and then reading something else the next day.
Therefore, for the Delight in the Word challenge this month, I have created a plan that will help us to immerse ourselves in the book of 1 John. We will read (or listen to) one chapter for 4 days in a row and then read the next chapter for 4 days in a row, etc. And then the last week of the month, we will read each chapter a final time.
Each time we read a chapter, we will focus on something different. Here is the schedule:
- Day 1: Read the chapter to get a good overview
- Day 2: Look for God’s love
- Day 3: Look for truths, principles and promises
- Day 4: Look for instructions and applications
- Final reading: Personalize it and pray it!
Plus, I know that a lot of you are interested in Scripture Writing, so I am giving you a suggested verse for writing every day (except Sunday.) Sundays are reserved for going to church, listening to the sermon and writing any Scriptures from the sermon.

I’m reading through Acts this way right now, and boy does it make a difference! Immersed in the same text for a week or so, different translations, focusing on the same section, I’m understanding God’s love a little more every day!
